LA JAZZ OPERATIONS MANUAL
I. Set UP and Unpacking.
1. Rez the packing box in world where you have permission.
2. Unpack the box to your inventory
3. Find the newly created folder in your inventory and place the Device (bed, rug, couch, etc...) in world.
4. Wait for the system to load. In most cases this will take about a minute.
5. Pose balls will Rez at this point and the system is ready for use.
II. USE
1. When the system finishes loading, the default pose will be ready.
Simply right click and sit on the gender correct poseball.
2. The first person on he system will be given a position selection menu.
Animations in the system are organized by position groups, that is
animations that are related to one another for the most part in
relative position. By organizing the animations this way, smooth
transitions between positions are possible.
3. Once a position group is selected, the animation selection menu will
appear.
Speed: Any animation that is labeled with an * (asterisk) leading the name
lets the user know that this particular animation supports multi-
speeds. To select a new speed, once the animation has begun
playing, simply choose the "Speed/Swap" button on the animation
selection menu. The speed menu will appear. The higher the speed
number you select, the faster the animation will play. Sound (if used)
will automatically adjust.
Menu Non-Responsive: If you make a selection on a menu and nothing
happens, simply repress the base of the system to get a fresh menu.
Menus that don't respond can be for several reasons including
another person taking control of the menu system or the menu
timing out. Menu's time out if nothing is selected after 1 min.
Changing Position or Groups: Selecting back on your menu will move
you to the previous menu.
Animation Selection -back-> Position Group -back-> Group Type
Note: If there is only 1 Position entered in for a given Group Type,
the system automatically skips this menu and goes directly to
the animation selection menu. If you are moving back, the system
therefore automatically moves you back to the group selection
in this same case.
III. Options
1. Dev. Reset = Allows user to reset all scripts and reload the
configuration file.
2. Face Tgl = Toggle to turn on and off Facial Animations.
3. M: Sound Tgl = Male Sound Toggle, used to turn Male sounds ON/OFF.
4. F. Sound Tgl = Female Sound Toggle, used to turn Female sounds ON/OFF.
5. Edit Menu
A. Position: Edit Position of Animation
i. Choose a Position to Edit - Upon entering the Position Edit Menu,
you will be prompted to choose which position you would like
to edit. The menu will only display those positions that are
available based upon the animation that is currently selected.
This could be any position from F1 to M3 and/or Toy (referring
to any rezzed device the system uses for the current animation).
ii. Editing the Position and/or Rotation - After selecting a position
to edit, a set of Prim Arrows with scrolling texture will appear
centered and rotated according to the position you chose to
edit. Right click the prim arrows and choose "Edit" from the
pie menu. Then use the normal SL interface (arrows) to move
the prim arrows to direct the engine where to move the
current animation to. Holding down the <CTRL> key while
editing position in the SL interface will give you the rotation
rings allowing you to adjust the rotation of the animation.
To see the new position take effect. Release the mouse button
and the system will update the position and rotation
automatically.
iii. Finish Editing - Once you have finished moving the animation
into the desired position and rotation, you can choose one
of 4 options to exit editing.
a. Done - This closes the edit system, removing the prim arrows
and leaves the edited position and rotation in place. NO
DATA IS SAVED WITH THIS OPTION. The reason is to allow
temporary adjustments of position while using the system.
This mean that you can make changes while using the device
to adjust for any range of avatar scale.
b. RESET - This option resets the position back to the original
default position stored in memory and allows you to continue
to edit. NOTE: If you have already saved the position
information to memory, and re-entered the edit system,
pressing reset will revert back to the last saved information.
If you have not changed the config notecard, you can
reload the system to revert back to the old settings.
c. CANCEL - This option will reset the position back to the last
saved memory location and rotation and then exit the edit
system.
d. SAVE - This option saves the current position information
into the scripts memory. This change will only last until
the device is reset. The only way to make a permanent
change in the position information is to overwrite the
original configure notecard data. If you wish to auto-
generate this data, after pressing "SAVE", click the base
of the device again to get the menu. Select Options ->
Edit Menu -> NOTECARD. The system will then print out
detailed instructions including both the data line and where
to place this in your notecard.
B. Show Mem.: Show Current Script Memory. This is useful when you
want to know if you have enough room to add more animations
to your system.
C. NOTECARD: This generates a output in local chat that you can then
cut and paste over the old configure data line permanently editing
the animation data.
D. H/S Base: Used to hide or show the Engine Box Base. Default is
hidden for engines already installed in devices and off for
engines sold to add to other devices.
E. Add. NEW: Hands out notecard with detailed information how to
add a new animation to the device.
6. Kick = Allows authorized person to remove a person or persons from
the system.
7. Turn OFF = Allows authorized person to remove pose balls and lock
system..
8. Auto Menu = Toggle to turn on or off auto menu system. When active,
auto menu will pop a new menu upon selection of a animation. Note:
This feature may only be toggled when off the system.
9. Group Only = Toggle group only mode. When active, only members
of devices group may use the system. This feature may only be
toggled when off the system.
10. Auth. Only = Toggle Authorized Only Function. This locks out some
option commands. This does NOT prevent other from using the
device. The function is to limit the amount of option control the
owner is willing to permit to the user. By enabling, only the owner
and authorized users (as defined in the config file) may edit certain
device functions.
